Description
The space
New Zealand designed and built to a high standard, engineered (and helicoptered in) to integrate into the natural environment.
The Kereru Pod is a contemporary studio style with quality furnishings throughout, featuring a NZ hand-made cedar outdoor Tub. Our private Pods are luxurious, extremely warm, snug, and quiet. The pods are fully equipped to allow you to rustle up a gourmet meal or equally order in from one of the surrounding eateries.
The Kereru Pod accommodates two guests on a luxury queen-size bed, with a leather-appointed sitting/relaxing area, ensuite, kitchen, and dining for two inside or out. Expansive sliding glass doors allow for bird watching all year round. The Pod has a large private deck complete with a hot-tub and outdoor dining set amongst the native bush.
We have amazing walks right from the Pods into the native forest and beyond (eateries, pubs, etc).
The property is located a short 6 min walk from the local train station, with a 12 min train ride to Wellington.
The Kereru pod is fully self-contained, including an ensuite, kitchen, queen-size luxurious bed, linen, towels, tea, coffee, and maybe a chocolate or two!
Guest access
Private access, via stairs through the native forest leading to the Pod. Unfortunately the property is not suitable for the mobility impaired, the pods are situated in a elevated position, accessed by garden steps to ensure a tranquil setting.
A car park is available on request where available, alternatively, there is plenty of parking on the street with a small walk to the property
Other things to note
We have no issues with a late checkout to ensure you can enjoy a leisurely morning soak in the tub.
We have two pods available (each pod can accommodate two guests), an excellent option for friends, family, and couple groups. Each pod is booked on the website separately and positioned in the bush to ensure each pod is a private bush retreat!
There is a wee walk up to your private pod (to ensure you are amongst our beautiful native environment) so please just consider this when booking

Additional rules
Our pods are not set-up for baby peas or young peas. please crack window and turn on fan when showering to avoid moisture in pod (they are super insulated).
Location
Khandallah is one of Wellington’s most scenic areas. We are located on the edge of Wellington’s largest green belt and the pods are situated at the base of Mt KauKau, which is a large reserve with beautiful walks and spectacular views across Wellington city and harbor. It is a 15 min walk into the village which has several excellent eateries, pubs, supermarket, pharmacy and doctors. We are connected to Wellington City by a direct 12 min train ride, with the station being 6 mins walk from the pods.
