The space
Designed and built in New Zealand to an exceptional standard, our pods are expertly engineered and even helicoptered into position to blend seamlessly with the surrounding natural environment.
The Tui Pod is a contemporary studio retreat, thoughtfully furnished with quality finishes throughout and features a handcrafted New Zealand cedar outdoor tub. Exceptionally warm, quiet, and cosy, the pod is designed for total comfort. The pod is fully equipped, allowing you to prepare a gourmet meal or simply order in from nearby local eateries.
Perfect for two guests, the pod includes a queen-size bed, a leather-appointed relaxation nook, private ensuite, kitchen, and dining options both indoors and outdoors. Expansive sliding glass doors invite the outdoors in, offering year-round birdwatching.
Step onto your private deck nestled in native bush, complete with a hot tub and outdoor dining area. Enjoy direct access to stunning walking tracks right from your doorstep, leading through native forest and onwards to local eateries and pubs.
Conveniently located just 8 to 10-minute walk to the local train station, you’re only a 12-minute train ride from Wellington.
The Tui Pod is fully self-contained, including an ensuite, kitchen, fresh linen, towels, tea, coffee, and a small sweet treat on arrival.
Guest access
A private access, via stairs through the native forest leads to the pods. Unfortunately, the property is not suitable for the mobility-impaired as the pods are situated in an elevated position and only accessed by garden steps to ensure a tranquil setting.
A car park is available on a first-come-first-serve reservation where available. Alternatively, there is plenty of parking on the street with a small walk to the property.
Other things to note
We have no issues with a late checkout to ensure you can enjoy a leisurely morning soak in the tub.
We do have two pods available, (each sleeping two) booked separately, an excellent option for friends, family, and couple groups.
There is a wee walk up to your private pod (to ensure you are amongst our beautiful native environment) so please just consider this when booking.

Additional rules
Our pods are not set-up for baby peas or young peas. please crack window and turn on fan when showering to avoid moisture in pod (they are super insulated).
Location
Khandallah is one of Wellington’s most scenic areas. We are located on the edge of Wellington’s largest green belt and the pods are situated at the base of Mt KauKau, which is a large reserve with beautiful walks and spectacular views across Wellington city and harbor. It is a 15 min walk into the village which has several excellent eateries, pubs, supermarket, pharmacy and doctors. We are connected to Wellington City by a direct 12 min train ride, with the station being 6 mins walk from the pods.
